We are almost there!! The year is progressed so fast. Construction on the new studio space is in its final stages. So much has been done and now the time has come for all the little things to be finished (closing up, electrics, plumbing, etc.).
Construction started at the beginning of the year. Progress has been consistent with only the final touches to be added. Honestly I must admit that these will take time. Often it feels as if I’m balancing eggs on top of another to get everything done.
There are two spaces. The glass studio is built under an existing roof with new concrete slabs cast for the work tables and machinery. Currently I’m still working in the garage which enables me to continue with work as construction progresses. The new studio will be twice the size as the garage and this gives me more space for crap. Just kidding… Actually it will enable more people to work in the space and also give us the opportunity to tackle bigger projects. Storage space will definitely be a bonus.

Workshop in progress

The workshop (not studio) is built on the foundations of our old chicken coop. This space will be used for all the “dirty” work such as wood and steel constructions. The above image is of the workshop in progress. The room on the left will contain tools and benches and possibly a darkroom later on. This will all be locked up when not in use. Future events will also take place under this roof (talks, presentations, workshops, etc.).
As we near the end more postings will come. This is a truly exciting time …
